The goal of Nelson Energy is to identify, license, and develop hydroelectric generation at existing dams throughout the United States. Given this goal, a continuing effort to identify and evaluate other possibilities for hydroelectric development is at the core of the company's strategic direction.

Given the long term development and licensing periods required for hydroelectric projects, Nelson Energy has focused only on those existing dams with sufficient head and flow available to provide long term robust energy production.
